LU - Lefèvre Utile, LEFEVRE UTILE was a biscuit factory in LYON - France. They worked with the most famous artists like Mucha, Bashri Arpad and 100'ds others for their "publicity", advertising, tins, posters and chromos calendars and menu cards …. When you click on detail under the photographs you see photographs of such marvelous cards. All are litho, stone press prints, embossed and made with love and supreme artistic quality. Here is the list of all names i am aware of …. My list has 124 cards ((but some are duplicated !!) because of more than one name appears on each card … artist who designed the card, but also the artist appearing on the card and the artist to which the card is dedicated and sometimes the scene actors when opera related. So there are 88 or maybe 89 different only … it is a complicated matter, so i made in the right column an alfabetic list of 124 names appearing on the cards. On the left is the list of cards names appearing in numeric order in the first book, followed by the names of those appearing on the second listing in the second album. Complicated mather as a fact … it is not part my collection --- so collectors will now much more than I do … please accept my knowledge as "as correct as possible" information because there are a lot of particularities to know about this collection. The list you can study above is a list of all known list with all known names that I am aware of AND those the company LU had published. Not all names have been edited and some have probably never been PRINTED for the albums but exist on card ! Some people say there are only 89 because they refer only to the existing two lists printed in the albums, originally printed by the company LU. So it is clear to me that they obviously decided to NOT print a third album. Further more people who buy an album mostly find at the end a set of aviators postcards inserted at the last pages of albums … also here is some misunderstanding because collectors presume that there are only 11 cards ! But be sure : these are the names of the 12 … Roger Sommer, Bennet, Voisin, Latham, Wright, Farman, Delagrange, Henri Demanest, Robert Esnault Pelterie, Glen Curtis, Blériot and Santos Dumont (merci à Mr Tony Balduck). I have most of the time about 20 to 40 different cards available … momentary i have 47 different and 6 aviators, but this changes from week to week … addition : it seems that i ommited 3 names (thanks MR C. from Italy) : Berr george, Grun Jules Alexandre, Leitner Jules … Grun is nevertheless in the attached JPG when you click on detail …… this is an answer on a question that i get once a week : Names are DUPLICATED because for example Jane Hadding is also marked afabeticale as Hadding Jane and on the card it is Miss Jane Hadding …
